Following a protracted recruitment process, the Board of Boxing South is glad to announce the appointment of Mr Tsholofelo Lejaka as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Boxing South Africa effective from 17 June 2025. The position of CEO at Boxing South Africa became vacant in August 2020 and since then, the office has been occupied by acting incumbents.

When the Board of Boxing South Africa took office on 19 December 2024 it identified its priorities, among others, as reinstating stability at governance level and ensuring that all vacant senior management positions are filled. In line with that commitment, the recruitment process to fill the vacant position of CEO commenced in January 2025. Due to the complexity of this process, it took a little more than five months to conclude the process.

Tsholofelo Lejaka is no stranger to the boxing fraternity. He previously served as CEO at Boxing South Africa for a little over four years, from 13 June 2016 until 31 July 2020. He returned to the space on 12 September 2024 following his secondment by Honorable Minister Gayton McKenzie to serve as Acting Accounting Officer, a position he continues to occupy to-date.

During this period of his secondment, he contributed immensely towards mediating the tensions and disputes which prevailed in the sector, uniting the boxing fraternity behind a singular programme of rebuilding the sport, refocusing on its development and promoting its profile.

Mr Lejaka rejoins Boxing South Africa at a time when the 2025/2026 financial year has just commenced and the workload ahead is huge and challenging but not insurmountable.

A statement released by BSA reads “We have no doubt as the Board of Boxing South Africa that given his proven track record and matured leadership style, he will continue to build on the achievements realized thus far.

We urge all our licensees and boxing enthusiasts at large to welcome Mr. Lejaka back to our pugilist family and lend him the required support to ensure that together we grow our sport and reinstate its glory”
